Born and brought up in Leeds Alan Bennett made his debut in the revue Beyond The Fringe with Peter Cook, Jonathan Miller and Dudley Moore.

With films such as An Englishman Abroad, A Private Function and The Lady in the Van, not to mention innumerable stage and tv plays, he has delighted audiences for 50 years and more. Today Alan will be reading from a lifetime’s diaries and be in conversation with the Playhouse’s Artistic Director, James Brining, which will also provide an opportunity for questions from the audience.
