Discover the joys of ageing disgracefully as Nana Funk brings granny anarchy to our Bramall Rock Void

24 Jul 2024

Ageing well doesn’t mean behaving yourself. Just ask Nana Funk, the great-great-grandmother of good times and star of Tough Old Bird, a heartfelt musical journey exploring real life events heading to our Bramall Rock Void from 6-7 September.

This funny, life-affirming show skewers society’s view of older women, asking big questions like: why do adverts insist we should “defy the effects of ageing”? Who decides what is “acceptable behaviour”? What happens when you become invisible, and everyone puts you on mute? And where’s the instruction manual?

Show creator Angie Waller has been entertaining audiences as Nana Funk since 2013. In Tough Old Bird, she stars alongside Claire Jones as Val, with Trev Fleming as the voice of Damon. Claire also composed the music for this unique experience that combines song, script, improvisation and clowning to captivating and comedic affect.
