What does a dramaturg do? What IS dramaturgy? How do I even pronounce that word?!?!

Join New Work & Learning Producer Rio Matchett for a two hour intensive workshop, introducing some of the practical and theoretical world of dramaturgy. The session will cover both the basics of play engineering – script structure, pacing, story and production dramaturgy – as well as introducing some of the philosophical questions of making theatre, including how to work with writers, how to create a high support high challenge environment, access, and decolonising the sector.

This workshop will be of use to writers, directors, producers, and anyone interested in how to make a play the best it can be.

If access support would help you to attend this workshop – a BSL interpreter, Creative Enabler, Support Worker or anything else – please let New Work & Learning Producer Rio know at rio.matchett@leedsplayhouse.org.uk, and we will do our best to provide that support.

This free workshop for artists is being delivered as part of our Furnace programme. For more information on Furnace, and how Leeds Playhouse supports artists, visit our ‘For Artists’ webpage.
