  • Communities Manager

    We are seeking a Communities Manager to lead crucial work in our Creative Engagement team.

    As part of our re-brand back to  Leeds Playhouse and the exciting opportunities from our redevelopment project, we want to make sure as many people as possible feel part of our family. We want people across Leeds, and beyond, whoever they are, to feel they are one of us.

    The Playhouse Communities programme is an integral strand within the award-winning Creative Engagement offer. Its aim is to connect with individuals and groups across the city, tapping into established networks and creating new ones, whilst also ensuring that there is a constant dialogue between the people of Leeds and its main producing theatre.

    The Communities Manager will create and lead the Playhouse Communities programme. This role will refresh existing offers such as our Community Ambassador scheme and Access for Adults, whilst also innovating new approaches to theatre work in the community, in response to the needs of the people we engage with.

    This role will suit a practitioner who is interested in leading a wide-ranging and dynamic programme of work, excited by connecting with people from all backgrounds and is passionate about finding ways to develop dialogue between a theatre building and its community.

  • Agent For Change

    Leeds Playhouse is seeking an Agent for Change.

    Leeds Playhouse is a proud member of Ramps on the Moon, a collaborative network of regional theatres. The consortium is made up of New Wolsey Ipswich, Leeds Playhouse, Sheffield Theatres, Birmingham Repertory Theatre, Theatre Royal Stratford East, Nottingham Playhouse and Graeae Theatre Company. These theatres are committed to offering opportunities to D/deaf and disabled people by putting D/deaf and disabled artists and audiences at the centre of their programmes, embedding accessibility and inclusivity into mainstream theatre.

    A team of Agents are working across the country in Ramps on the Moon venues to create, administer and advise on how their organisations can increase their inclusivity and develop opportunities for D/deaf and disabled artists, performers, audiences and participants, and within their workforces. Agents for Change are employed to drive various organisational change projects; they are supporting the development of audiences and artists, creating new relationships and breaking down barriers that individuals or groups may feel stop them getting involved in the theatre industry.

The supervisor will monitor and champion the Playhouse standards and they will be responsible for leading their team on shift to ensure the best service is provided to all customers across the range of F&B services.

  • Day Porter

    Leeds Playhouse is seeking a Day Porter.

    This is an excellent opportunity to join Leeds Playhouse as we have an excellent premises team ready for a new start.

    The successful applicant will play a crucial role in the up keeping of the building. They will be working on their own initiative to deadlines, set out by the Premises Manager.

    The role will involve setting up conference rooms, receiving deliveries and dispatching to relevant departments and helping housekeeping with daily tasks to meet the demand of Leeds Playhouse work schedules.

    The Housekeepers play a crucial role in ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors to the Playhouse by providing and maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the public and back of house areas.

    The successful applicant will join the premises team to delivery high standard of cleanliness throughout the building. They will  need to be able to work in a team, use their own initiative and work with other departments across the playhouse, delivering a first class service.

  • Premises Supervisor

    Leeds Playhouse is seeking a Premises Supervisor.

    The Premises Supervisor is a crucial role responsible for ensuring the safety of all visitors, staff and property at the Leeds Playhouse. This is a customer facing role based in our frontline team and it is their responsibility to be present during all performances to ensure all licensing and fire regulations are adhered to.

    The successful applicant will be SIA registered, fully versed in all security practises and have excellent customer service skills upon joining the premises team.

  • Audio Description Directors

    Are you a visually impaired theatre artist?

    Do you have a passion for exploring creative and innovative approaches to audio description in theatre?

    We’d love to hear from you.

    At Leeds Playhouse, we work with a fantastic team of trained Audio Describers who provide traditional audio description for selected performances throughout our season.

    Alongside this offer, our creative teams have been exploring integrated approaches to audio description for some of our productions. Our recent production of Road featured creative audio description performed live and in character by the cast at every performance.

    To create this different approach to audio description we’ve been working with teams of Audio Description Directors made up of one trained Audio Describer and one visually impaired theatre artist.

    We’re looking to expand our pool of visually impaired artists to work with us as Audio Description Directors, and we’re especially interested in hearing from people based in the North of England.

  • Senior Lighting Technician

    Leeds Playhouse is seeking a Senior Lighting Technician.

    The Senior Lighting Technician will work with the lighting team to provide high quality lighting, and video for shows presented across Leeds Playhouse’s venues and on tour.

    The successful applicant will have two or more years’ experience in a similar role within a producing theatre or while touring and will have excellent ETC EOS programming skills. This position would suit candidates looking to gain more experience as a programmer working alongside professional lighting designers.

    With a new vision unfolding and the completion of a major capital redevelopment drawing near, this is an exciting time to join the Playhouse.
