RISE UP Festival (RUF) is an intergenerational and intersectional celebration of Caribbean Arts in its many different forms. It looks to the Windrush Generation and explores how they, their legacy, and art have shaped the UK. The festival is curated and co-directed by two British Caribbean artist-practitioners, Omari Swanston-Jeffers and Melanie Abrahams, in partnership with Leeds Playhouse. The Rise Up Festival Takeover will feature a kaleidoscope of artists from the Forward Prize winning Malika Booker to Leeds based artists Christella Litras, Phenicia Williams, Azizi Cole and Namron, to Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry Awardee and elder statesman of poetry John Agard.
