More Information on A Passionate Woman (2017)
Liza Goddard (Bergerac, Yes Honestly) plays Betty, a passionate, doting mum who finds it hard to accept that her son is leaving home to get married.
On the morning of her son’s wedding, Betty retreats to her attic where she relives her long-lost youth and the love affair she had in the 1960s. Surrounded by her memories and ghosts from her past Betty finds herself torn between a husband she never loved, a son about to leave and the man she shared a passionate affair with.
Kay Mellor’s (In the Club, Band of Gold) romantic comedy opens at the Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham prior to a national tour to Exeter, Malvern, Guildford, Sheffield, Northampton and Leeds.

“ Elegantly designed, thoughtfully directed and beautifully constructed comedy drama”
“ Blending nostalgia, romance and comedy, A Passionate Woman triumphed in its humorous but honest portrayal of ageing, family ties and regrets – with twists, turns and laugh-out-loud surprises along the way.”
“ A fiercely well-performed play that captures the pathos and humour of marriage and children, all within the pleasant framework of having a natter in the attic.”
“ the joy of the piece is in its glorious, Yorkshire, Ayckbournesque, downbeat observations on life in general”
