More Information on Furnace Festival

Furnace Festival is a celebration of the new work, artists and partnerships we develop over the course of the year. Over four days in November, we’ll showcase some of the projects we’ve been cooking up here at the Playhouse, from fledgling plays to new musicals.

We’ll also invite artists and audiences into the building for a jam-packed programme of skills workshops, conversations and social events.

This year, as part of the wider festival programme, we’re giving audiences a sneak peek at two major projects in development – Tess Seddon’s funny, timely and hyper-local Amateur Politician and Northern Soul – a resonant and entertaining new play by multi award-winning writer Jim Cartwright.

13 NOVEMBER / FURNACE SCRATCH

15 NOVEMBER / AMATEUR POLITICIAN (WORK IN PROGRESS)

16 NOVEMBER / NORTHERN SOUL (SCRIPT READING)

Full programme to be announced later in the year.
