More Information on Performing Britain – Transform 19

Jija Sohn (Japan/Netherlands) & Live Art Bistro (UK)

Live Art Bistro are embarking on their most ambitious project to date. Performing Britain explores what British identity might look like post-Brexit, and includes a 24-hour live art marathon of over 30 performances, coinciding with the UK’s planned departure from the EU on 29 March.

For Performing Britain, Live Art Bistro and Transform have joined forces to commission Japanese and Netherlands based artist Jija Sohn. Catch the durational version of her performance ‘Tamago’ during the 24-hour marathon in March, followed by the performance version at Transform 19. Sohn’s performance at the festival will be followed by a Performing Britain talk, led by Live Art Bistro.

Tamago, Jija Sohn
In this rollercoaster solo performance, Sohn takes the audience through the real, the virtual and the kitsch – in a study of both madness and loneliness. Tamago is a rollercoaster, a fight and a lullaby.

Jija Sohn is a choreographer and dancer who is interested in the moment at which different realities violently collide. Live Art Bistro are an artist led venue and a curatorial team based in Leeds.

Tamago was originally developed with School for New Dance Development with Podium Bloos. Performing Britain version co-commissioned by Live Art Bistro and Transform.
Presented as part of Transform 19, a festival of powerful international performance – 26 April – 4 May 19 –
