More Information on Primary Players 2018 – The Tempest
On Tuesday 5th June, for one night only, Primary Schools from across Leeds join forces on the Quarry stage to perform their very own collaborative production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest.
Now in its fifth year, this exciting in-depth project offers primary schools the opportunity to work with us in partnership throughout the Spring/Summer term toward a full-scale production on our Quarry stage.
The culmination of 6 weeks of schools’ based workshops and rehearsals, as well as teacher CPD to support the delivery of Shakespeare in the curriculum makes this a thoroughly rewarding project for schools, teachers and students. Primary Players is a unique project that allows students from different schools to create a collaborative performance, unlike other projects that have schools/classes performing entirely independently from each other. All 120 students perform together on our largest stage as one ensemble cast! Dress and tech rehearsals also allow the students to experience what a professional actor experiences when performing in a producing theatre like the Playhouse, and means they get to meet a range of professionals in different roles which is great for their aspirations and career knowledge.
