‘I LIKE HOW BOOKS SMELL AND FEEL. I LIKE THE WEIGHT OF THEM. I LIKE THE PROMISE OF THEM. HOW THEY HOLD STORIES AND IDEAS BUT HOW THEY’RE VERY QUIET ABOUT IT.’
The spirit of libraries past and present await the future, an addict makes amends, a girl finds inspiration and passion spills over the paperbacks. Two actors create ten extraordinary characters in Emma Adams’ gloriously funny and playfully provocative exploration of libraries in the age of the internet search engine. Commissioned to celebrate The Leeds Library’s 250 year anniversary, the production will be performed in the beautiful Georgian setting of the New Room at The Leeds Library before touring to libraries across the city. Emma Adams’ previous plays include Tiny Shoes for the Playhouse and The Bronte Parsonage and Animals, Theatre 503.
A Leeds Playhouse production, in association with the Leeds Library and Leeds Libraries.

Parent & Baby Performance
A Parent and Baby performance enables parents to attend the theatre with their baby (under 12 months). We make small adaptations to the lighting and sound effects, including keeping the auditorium lights slightly raised. The seating is unallocated and there is a relaxed attitude to noise.
