More Information on Transform 19

Transform 19 is a festival of powerful, international performance. Igniting the city with trailblazing theatre, dance, parties and adventure, the festival assembles some of the boldest artists from across Leeds and the globe. Transform 19 travels through some of the city’s most iconic venues and hidden spaces, pushing boundaries and borders.

‘Across two weeks this Spring, let Transform take you to new places, and revel in this daring playlist of urgent, of the moment performance. Transform 19 is a powerful assembly of uncompromising artists who conjure up new futures.

Travel to some of the city’s most cherished venues, or discover amazing hidden spaces for the first time. From a takeover of an old school hall by fearless Brazilian high school students in When It Breaks It Burns, to an interactive adventure across the city with Rewire Leeds, or an epic club extravaganza with an An Atypical Brain Damage, curate your own experience of the festival and the city.

Expect theatre, dance, parties, adventure and to most certainly try something you might not have before. Round off each day at the Festival Centre, our mischievous television studio takeover with Prime Studios. Join the conversation on social media, meet us during the festival and tell us what you think. This is an international performance festival for the city, in which an eclectic group of artists are giving their perspective on the world today. We want to know what yours is.’

The thumping heart of Transform 19, the Festival Centre is the place to gather, reflect, converse and celebrate. This year we are excited to be collaborating with Prime Studios to host an ambitious television studio takeover. More ordinarily utilised to shoot some of our favourite films and music videos, Prime Studios will be the epicentre of Transform 19, hosting shows, events, discussions and parties throughout the festival.

Visit Archive…
Archive is Prime Studios Bar and Café – and will be serving up a selection of quality local beers and wines, fizzling cocktails and sumptuous snacks every day of the festival. Grab a bite to eat and drink before or after a show or just to relax. Join a Happy Hour from 5pm-6pm every day on performance days.

Party with us…
Join us at the Festival Opener on Fri 26 April at 6pm, to cut the ribbon on Transform 19, and for music, confetti, provocations and performances. The Closing Party on Sat 4 May is from 10pm and will feature special surprises from festival artists and guests. Book for both free.

During the festival we’re inviting some of Leeds’s finest curators, event organisers and DJ’s to take over the Festival Centre with mischievous and riotous line-ups. Follow us on social media and join the mailing list for announcements of our After Party’s programme and for recommendations on other late nightspots.
