  • Free rehearsal space

We offer free rehearsal space to all local artists, dependent on whether we have space available in the building, on the following basis:

    • You must be a member of Furnace Social Club.
    • We need to have met you first, had a brew and discussed your work.
    • We don’t offer any payment or technical support.

We calculate the in-kind value of any rehearsal space that is offered so that artists can use it in ACE applications if appropriate.

  • Make It Happen Workshops

Year-round, industry focused workshops, FREE to all Furnace Social Club members.

You’ll be notified in the email newsletters about upcoming workshops.

  • Director & Designer Intensive

In association with the JMK Trust, we’re hosting a two day intensive for 10 early career Directors and 10 early career Set & Costume Designers to explore the relationship between these two roles and the process of creating the design and concept for a piece of theatre. It’s also an opportunity for artists to meet potential collaborators and peers from across the region. The two days will be led by Oliver Twist Director Amy Leach and Designer Hayley Grindle. The intensive is free to attend and includes a free ticket to watch Oliver Twist.

Oliver Twist is a new adaptation of the novel by Charles Dickens which is being co-produced by Leeds Playhouse and Ramps on the Moon. The production has an integrated company of D/deaf, disabled and non-disabled artists, and features integrated creative BSL, captioning and audio description at every performance. This intensive will explore accessibility as part of the design process.

    Friday 13 March, 10am – 5.30pm in Rehearsal Room 2, Leeds Playhouse
