Developing local actors

Actors are the lifeblood of our theatre, and we aim to support and work with as many actors from the North as possible.

We provide opportunities for local actors to be auditioned and nourished throughout the year, and we look forward to expanding this element in the coming years.

“Working with the Playhouse on four drastically different shows was the most incredible experience. It’s an extraordinary regional theatre which deeply values its connection with the community and their stories, and to be a part of that straight out of drama school has really helped me find my feet in this broad and challenging industry while reminding me never to lose sight of the audiences we make work for. I am so grateful for the opportunities that continue to come my way because of the grad scheme and am proud to be part of the Playhouse family.”

-Rose Wardlaw, Graduate Actor, 2015-2016

“Learning on the job is so crucial to developing as an actor and the graduate scheme provides such a great opportunity to do that; working with on a variety of shows with a variety of directors is so beneficial.”

-Paksie Vernon, Graduate Actor, 2014-2015
