Developing new directors
Our Trainee Assistant Director positions are fantastic opportunities for directors at the very start of their professional careers to spend time with the Playhouse, learning about the role and skills of a theatre director.
These positions are especially targeted at artists from backgrounds currently underrepresented in UK theatre.
Our Trainee Assistant Directors observe an entire rehearsal process from the start of rehearsals through to press night. We also provide opportunities for the trainee to work on projects with our Creative Engagement department, and to spend time observing, supporting and learning from our Artistic Planning team, including script reading, attending programming meetings and helping with auditions.
