Work experience for theatre technicians

For a long time, we’ve hosted a range of apprenticeships, internships and work experience opportunities for designers and technicians, but never before in a strategic manner.

So, we’re launching a brand new element to develop designers and technicians, especially those living and working in Yorkshire.

We’ll be expanding this element over the coming months and years, so watch this space.

“Being Resident Composer at the Playhouse was a fantastic opportunity for me to develop as an artist and to move on a stage in my career. I was able to compose for a number of productions with directors whose work I greatly admired, as well as the time, space and support to develop my own projects. The residency also gave me a valuable insight into the workings of a producing theatre, which will help and inform my practise as a theatre maker.”

– Harry Blake, Cameron Mackintosh Composer-in-Residence 2017

“The Leeds Playhouse and its brilliant backstage staff have enabled me to grow and learn from professionals first hand. I have been given the opportunity to be mentored and guided in a friendly and welcoming environment. I have learned so much more than I knew possible and continue to flourish, developing my professional self throughout every different production. I have been supported in my endeavours within stage management, and I have been pushed both creatively and strategically, which has assisted me become the professional I am today.”

– Loren Raynor, DSM
