Following the Government’s instructions this week, Leeds Playhouse has made the difficult decision to cancel or postpone productions which were scheduled to begin before 9 May. This includes the postponement of the Playhouse and Opera North’s co-production of A Little Night Music which was due to begin rehearsing this Monday, and to open on 9 May.
The Playhouse buildings will also be closed to the public from Monday 23 March for the foreseeable future.
We’re very sad not to be able to share these performances with you and it is with a heavy heart that we make this choice. We have also paused our Creative Engagement and Furnace sessions, including Youth Theatre and Heydays. The wellbeing of our Playhouse community, including audiences, artists, participants and staff, continues to be our highest priority.
Leeds Playhouse is a registered charity (No. 255460) and the loss of ticket sales for cancelled performances is financially devastating for us. We’re therefore giving ticket holders the option during this unprecedented time, to consider making a donation to help sustain Leeds Playhouse – a theatre created by the people of Leeds, for the people of the Leeds City Region.
If preferred, tickets holders can choose to add credit to their account to use on a future performance. We are also offering a full refund on tickets.
We are continuing to think of ways to keep connected and share our community’s creativity with you. We believe that everyone should have access to theatre.
