On the Night

We look forward to seeing you…

Just a few final bits you may need to know before visiting the Playhouse for a performance.

If you have any questions, or if something isn’t covered here, please don’t hesitate to contact us!

Cloakroom & Bags Policy

For the comfort and safety of audience and staff, large bags, rucksacks, suitcases and multiple shopping bags are not permitted inside the auditoriums.  We thank all of our visitors for their co-operation on this.

For security reasons, all bags left in the Cloakroom are subject to inspection by staff. Should anything suspicious be found then we are obligated to contact the Police.

The cloakroom charge is 50p per item.

We always endeavour to accommodate at least one point in the performance to admit latecomers. However on occasion we may need to operate a strict no latecomers or re-admittance policy for some shows. This is due to the design of the staging or intimate nature of our theatre spaces. If we are aware of this in advance we will inform people at the time of booking and it will be clearly printed on all tickets. Please note though we are not always aware of the latecomers policy in advance.

Please note that if we are able to admit latecomers, we will always direct patrons to the nearest available vacant seats inside the auditorium and not necessarily to their actual seats. This is to ensure as little disruption as possible.

Children and Young People

Our marketing material and the website will always advise if a performance has a specific age recommendation. The Box Office team can advise you of the reasons for any age recommendations for individual productions. Under no circumstances can babies or children under the age of sixteen be left under the supervision of theatre staff.

Education and Youth Groups

Education and youth groups are welcome at every performance at the Leeds Playhouse, we do not programme specific schools’ performances. We offer some great schools and group discounts. For more information, please see our Creative Education section.

We sell programmes for all Leeds Playhouse productions. These can be purchased from Attendants or at the Box Office. On occasions we may sell the playtext in place of a programme. These contain the play’s entire script as well as cast and creative biographies. The price of playtexts may vary as will the price of programmes for visiting productions.

There is strictly no photography in either of the auditoriums as all set designs are copyrighted. Photographs in Front of House areas may be taken with the permission of the Duty Manager.

What to wear

There is no dress code. However we suggest that you dress appropriately for the weather; whilst both our theatre spaces are air-conditioned, this can achieve limited results against adverse outside temperatures when they are at full capacity.

Customer feedback

We welcome all feedback and endeavour to respond within three working days whenever possible. There are Comments Cards available throughout the front of house areas to leave feedback or you can email us directly at Whilst we endeavour to reply to all emails within three working days, it may take up to two weeks if we need to fully investigate a more serious complaint.

If you have a general enquiry, please call Box Office on 0113 213 7700 or email
